The Wameki + Annis

Tokyo’s underground music scene runs very deep,it bursts through the Earth’s crust,passes through the mantle,and reaches the UK.

THE WAMEKI is a trio. No guitarist,the bassist plays a two-strings bass guitar,the drummer plays a three-piece kit(bass drum,snare,hihat),and the vocalist just repeatedly jumps on the stage.

This stripped-down minimalist formation made a new sound - the blues of the 25th century.

Annis is a solo electronic and vocal-led artist making bold, emotionally charged capital-P Pop. Her sound collides soaring vocals, expressive synth lines and visceral beats with the otherworldly pull of Celtic and gothic folklore. Rooted in Wales and Cornwall, her music inhabits the space where the ancient meets the futuristic. 

Annis launched her alias this summer at a London club night headlined by Richard Fearless, with her debut single due later this year on occult label Crying Outcast.
